Have you ever thought about starting an Etsy shop only to find that you're not quite sure where to start?
I have been there and let me tell you, I've learned a lot along the way and can't wait to share it with you in hopes that it will help you get off on the right foot.
There have been many ups and downs through out the years but, here's where you come in. What I have personally gone through, you can take away and implement in your business right away. Before we begin on this journey together, let me share mine with you.
My journey on etsy started over 7 years ago. My son was 4 years old at the time and I was working a part time job as a sporting goods cashier. My husband (fiancé at the time), was working at a Community Action Program that helped low income families with home improvements; to save on their energy bills.
We made the choice to send Joni, (our son), to preschool/daycare so I could go back to work full-time. Our income was not getting us anywhere near the goals we had set out for our family of owning our own home and no longer owing debt to credit card companies.
About 3 weeks into our sweet, rambunctious little boys schooling journey, we received a call from the Daycare Director. She asked if I could come by to observe the behavior of our child, as she was not sure it was a great fit. So, next day upon us, I arrived at the preschool to sit and observe what they had been dealing with.
Now, I'll be honest. I knew that our little kiddo was full of energy. The bouncing off the walls, won't sit still for no-one kind of energy but, I didn't think anything of it. This was our only son and I figured, hey!! everyone's boy acts like this, it's not just our son. Well, that day, after seeing what a ball of energy he was, compared to the other children in class, I knew exactly why they had called.
I will never forget that day, and the pit in my stomach, when she told me that it just wouldn't work out any longer.
Long story short, we decided that it would be much better, if I stayed home with him, instead of going through the same "gut wrenching feeling" like your child just won't fit in or doesn't belong. I hated that day, I never wanted to go through that feeling again, and I definitely never want him to feel, like he doesn't fit in or belong (anywhere!).
I listed my first Item on Etsy that year and have been learning and tweaking things to better serve my business, my family, and my clients. As I mentioned earlier here's where you can benefit from my experiences.
If you've struggled with similar experiences, this is one I hope will help you as it has helped me in becoming a successful "Paper Florist" business owner on Etsy.
